European Thinkbelt/McDonald’s Radio University
European Thinkbelt/McDonald’s Radio Universityは小林研究室が演出家の高山明氏と初めてコラボしたプロジェクトである。2010年代に入りシリアを中心とする難民がヨーロッパを目指し、アテネからフランクフルトまでのルート、通称バルカンルート上では地元との衝突や国境閉鎖など多くの対立や拒絶が生まれた。この線状に浮かび上がる新しい関係性に注目し、Cedric Priceのアンビルトプロジェクト〈Potteries Thinkbelt〉を下敷きとして、フランクフルトからアテネまで移動する大学を提案した。多様なバックグラウンドを持った難民が難民たちにとってのライフラインになったマクドナルド内にて、地元の人々に対し先生としてレクチャーを行う。最初の年ではフランクフルトにてこのプロジェクトの展示を市内の劇場ムゾン・トゥルムにて空間設計から施工まで行った。
European Thinkbelt/McDonald’s Radio University is the first project in which Kobayashi’s lab collaborated with the director Akira Takayama on a route from Athens to Frankfurt, commonly known as the Balkan route, where Syrian and other refugees headed for Europe in the 2010s. Focusing on these new linear relationships, I proposed a university that travels from Frankfurt to Athens, underpinned by Cedric Price’s Ambilto project (Potteries Thinkbelt). He gives lectures to local people as a teacher in McDonald’s, where refugees from diverse backgrounds have become a lifeline for refugees. In the first year, the project was exhibited in Frankfurt at the Muson Thurm Theater in the city, from design to construction.
